Big news out of the State Board of Psychology: Executive Director Dr. Ronald Ross will be retiring at the end of April. After 23 years as the board’s director, he will step down to spend time with his new grandson. Dr. Ross has been a huge support to OSPA especially as we battled against the attempted elimination of our private license and now the tumultuous move of the ODE license to the board. Dr. Ross also presented at the SBP November meeting the draft rule language impacting the transition of licenses to the board. He said the rules will be complete and submitted before his retirement; however, they will take many months to go through the state’s rule review procedure. He included Ms. Chilton and outgoing SBP board member Doug Cole on this process and Ms. Chilton continues to be engaged in all meetings between Dr. Ross and DEW. The staff at the board who handle license renewals are expected to remain and will continue to work closely with OSPA on the upcoming changes.
Additionally, Gov. DeWine named Rachel Undercoffer as the appointee to replace Dr. Cole on the State Board of Psychology. Ms. Undercoffer holds both a school-based license and the independent school psychology license and works in private practice. OSPA is excited to work with her over the next four years.
